CHRISTMAS CELEBRATIONS
Lights Switch On
Animation stars Wallace & Gromit will join the Lord Mayor of Exeter, Cllr Peter Wadham, to switch on the city's Christmas lights.
The lights will be switched on as the finale to the Exeter Winter Festival of Light on Thursday 17 November.
The Exeter Winter Festival of Light takes place within the setting of Exeter's Cathedral Green. Wallace & Gromit will be making guest appearances during the event and joining the Lord Mayor for the grand switch on at 6.50pm.
As one of the city's most popular events, this celebration of winter festivities represents the many faith and non-faith traditions and values that exist within the community.
A host of street entertainers will join in the celebrations, which run from 6pm. Local artists Voices in Common, Exeter Inspirational Choir and Rough Music Folk Orchestra perform on stage. During the evening over 300 lanterns will be carried in a procession by local school children. The evening finishes at 7.30pm with a pyrotechnic display and the traditional switch on of the Christmas illuminations.
